DEE DEE
Stylist & Fashion Designher
I started my fashion career as a young girl of 15 modeling for fashion catalogs in the basement of the department stores in downtown Philadelphia where I exceled in the "pant department" for my long legs (hence my nickname "Legs Lasprogata"). Upon graduation from Vanderbilt University, I moved to New York where I earned a degree in Fashion Design while working for the President of the Fashion Institute of Technology. Long nights and weekends cutting and sewing was my life. Having learned to sew at a young age by my grandmother, Nell who was known for her gorgeous couture gowns, I sought to master the trade and embark on a career in Fashion Design. Little did I know that would lead me to my father's ancestorial land, Rome, Italy where I further trained in couture for 2 years. Upon returning to New York, I labored day and night to start my own business creating couture fashions for some of New York's elite clientele. Having also patented an invention for washable Braille labels, I worked alongside Stevie Wonder whom I engaged in fashion collaborations. After years of running my own atelier off of Park Avenue, I embarked on my first ready-to-wear collection which launched during New York Fashion week. I was named by WWD as one of the "New and Upcoming Designers". Pre-Covid I returned back to Italy with a contract to design a brand launch based on the famous Italian Icon Valentina created by Guido Crepax. Working in collaboration with his family, the brand was launched in USA bearing the Made in Italy label. My work to date has been featured in both Italy and the USA including TG5 TV, La Stampa, People, Entrepeneur, Glamour, Fox News and WWD. Today, I live on Lake Como where I have been coming for over 25 years.
